OXI FRESH Franchisees Happy to be Green (2)

[Do you know of an noteworthy franchise company or franchisee that we should feature? Let me know at info[at]franbest.com]
According to Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning®, their franchise owners use a green cleaning method that harnesses the power of oxygen to clean carpets. OxiFresh franchise owners provide carpet cleaning that’s safe for children and pets, leaves no sticky residue and has a drying time of only one hour.
After I interviewed Oxi Fresh CEO Jonathan Barnett, MBA, about his “green” approach to carpet cleaning. (OXI FRESH Pt. 2: The Green Franchise), I received 30+ comments from franchise owners who shared how “going green” is giving them a competitive edge.
Read some of these comments here: OXI FRESH Franchisees Happy to be Green (1)
Read more below.
Robert Radican, OxiFresh of Rhode Island, says:
Last week we cleaned the rugs at a day care center. The owner was delighted with the result. She pointed out that many of the daily indoor activities involve the children being on the rug. There is a concern with the kids exposure to dust mites, germs, dirt and problem chemicals. OxiFresh Rhode Island will be looking for more customers in this industry. We have completed 5 months with our new franchise and are very happy with the business.
Della , Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning franchisee for Des Moines, IA, says:
Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning of Des Moines offers its clients a “Go Green” carpet cleaning experience with a fast “one hour” dry time. Most everyone is concerned with the environment and in Des Moines, our clients choose Oxi Fresh to clean their carpets because it is a green company that is safe to use in their homes. They trust our cleaning system to get their carpets clean by using less water, less electricity, and extending the carpet life through regular maintenance cleaning, they actually save money too! Using the power of oxygen, “The Way Mother Nature Cleans” to clean carpets the Oxi Fresh way, is one way we can all make a difference and have clean carpets too!
Craig of St. Louis says:
We’ve been in business for just about a year now. We have had a fantastic response from our new customers. People Love our product for many reasons. The first is that Oxi Fresh is GREEN. In addition we use very little water. We use a couple of gallons of water on the average job. Unlike some of our competitors can use 40 gallons of water on the same size job. The customers don’t have worry about any residue that can be harmful for there kids or pets.
We had one customer that said she was able to take her dogs boots off after we cleaned her carpets. I told her I didn’t understand what she was telling me. She said she had her carpets cleaned on a regular basis. With the other cleaning companies she had used before. Her dog would lick it’s paws so much they would start to bleed. Then when the dog walked around it would get it all over the carpet. The only thing she could figure was the Green Oxi Fresh method didn’t leave any kind of residue afterwards. So then the dog didn’t lick it paws any longer. So she was able to take it’s little boots off.
So to sum it it up. We are Green, our process is Dry in an hour or less. And Oxi Fresh cleans better than other companies as well. How can you go wrong?
Doug of MetroEast Illinois says:
I’ve been in the business offering Oxi Fresh Carpet cleaning services in the St. Louis Metro East Illinois area for only 7 months now and continue to get a kick out of the responses I get from my customers once I finish cleaning their carpets. If I only had a dollar for every time I heard the word “WOW!” I’d be starting another franchise by now. Everyone is impressed with the results and genuinely respects the fact our company is truly “green” by conserving water, not putting toxic agents back into the Earth, and recycling our used supply materials. Many customers have told me they selected my service because of this and then are astounded at the results. It’s a win-win situation for everyone!
The Oxi Fresh franchisee of Northwest Arkansas, Bill says:
Oxi Fresh of Northwest Arkansas is in a group of very “green” friendly communities that really appreciate our entire process. From the minute we pull up to the front door of a home in our fuel-efficient vehicles our customers recognize how different we are. When they see we only use a fraction of the water the traditional carpet cleaners do they’re even more intrigued. When I tell them their pets and children are fine being in the home as we’re cleaning because we don’t use any harsh chemicals they need to be afraid of, they often get a “where have you been all my life” type of look when they think about the nasty chemical smells and gallons upon gallons of water other carpet cleaners leave behind. Finally, when they see the results and how well this process cleans (many times getting out stains the other companies couldn’t) I know I’ve gained a loyal customer and can expect a call in 6-12 months to come back out and clean their carpet again.
Bryan Bailey of SW Michigan says:
Since the green revolution is still in its infancy in many parts of the country, some people may be hesitant to try a green process for fear it will not work as well as the traditional chemical methods. I want to share an experience that shows how well our green process works. I’ve only been in business for less than a year, so I still work a full time job as my business gets established. I work for a Fortune 500 company (in the top 150). The janitorial company handles the carpet cleaning. Since people in the company know that I am also an Oxi franchisee, I received a call on a Thursday afternoon asking if there was a way for me to take a look at the CEO’s waiting room. The janitorial company had done a terrible job (many stains remained) and there was a large meeting taking place the following Monday. I came out that evening and within an hour had taken care of the issue. The next morning, the CEO’s receptionist called and was absolutely blown away with the results. Even though the carpet cleaning is under contract with a VERY large national janitorial company, I was able to prove that our process provides superior results AND is environmentally friendly to boot. I’m sure we’ll get more calls in the future to handle the highly visible areas of the company. Good enough for a Fortune 500 CEO, good enough for most!!
Florida Oxi Fresh franchisee David Englund says:
Green is the only way to go in Florida. Customers in Florida are very aware of the fact that we have high humidity and very warm temperatures most of the year. OXI Fresh’s low water usage helps prevent the development and growth of mold and mildew associated with excess water on the carpets. They also appreciate the fact that the windows do not have to be open due to the smell of harsh chemicals. In Florida we prefer to keep our windows closed to allow the AC to cool our homes. OXI Fresh’s green products allow our customers to have cleaner carpets without the risk of mold and mildew or the unwelcomed side effects of harsh cleaning chemicals. The feedback we get from customers once they have experience OXI FRESH has been nothing short of wonderful.
Oxi Fresh franchisee Frank Souk says:
The green aspect of carpet cleaning is why I purchased my Oxi Fresh franchise. The trend in the country has been looking at more ways to go green, finding a better way to do things. My research lead me to this outfit. I thought I was taking a chance at only being the 10th franchise in this new company. The low moisture without the harsh chemicals is why I have high repeat and referral numbers. Happy customers overall and even better a happy wife.
The Oxi Fresh franchisee in Charlotte, NC, Chris Souk says:
I have been operating my Oxi Fresh franchise in Charlotte, NC for a little over a month. I am amazed at the main reason customers are calling to set up appointments. They view our process as being enviromentally friendly and safe for their family and pets. This is what has compelled a majority of my customers to do business with Oxi Fresh. This company is positioned as the leader in “green” carpet cleaning.
Oxi Fresh franchise owners Randy & Amy Butler say:
We are the only green carpet cleaning company in our area and we found out real quick that consumers have been wanting this for some time now. In this day and age, with so many other “issues” to contend with, it is important that people can at least feel safe when it comes to their homes being cleaned with non-toxic solutions. The comfort of knowing you are not harming your children or pets is irreplaceable!
We have a 6 year old son who has allergies and asthma and every time we had a carpet cleaning company come in to our home in the past, he would have an asthma attack and have to be put on his neubulizer for days. Once we found Oxi Fresh and saw with our own eyes the transformation it had on our son, we knew this is what we needed and that others like us, would need it too. We not only clean our own carpets on a regular 3 month schedule, we also clean their mattresses, which has helped tremendously with dust mites and cleared our indoor air.
We couldn’t be more pleased with the results from Oxi Fresh and most of all, our son’s health has improved.

OXI FRESH Franchisees Happy to be Green (1)

[Do you know of an noteworthy franchise company or franchisee that we should feature? Let me know at info[at]franbest.com]
In my interview series featuring up-and-coming franchise chains, I interviewed Oxi Fresh CEO Jonathan Barnett, MBA, about his “green” approach to carpet cleaning. (OXI FRESH Pt. 2: The Green Franchise).
I was interested to know whether being a “green” company gave Oxi Fresh a marketing advantage over the competition. The answer was a resounding YES!
The answer came not from Jonathan, but from the 30+ enthusiastic comments left on the interview post… mostly from Oxi Fresh franchise owners. Here’s what they had to say:
Robert, an Oxi Fresh franchise owner serving the Portland and Salem, Oregon markets, says:
Our Oxi Fresh customers here in Portland and Salem Oregon comment on our small, fuel efficient vehicles all the time. They are impressed how compact our equipment is and that we do not have to operate our vehicle during the cleaning process. They realize that we are not only saving hundreds of gallons of water throughout the day, we also save gallons of fuel a day compared to other systems. Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning is a Green company from the product we use to the way we operate.
Oxi Fresh franchisee Brad Rohrich says:
We service residential and commercial carpet. The fact that we don’t use harsh chemicals has had a huge impact on our communities we serve. Restaurants no longer have to be worried about their food being contaminated by harsh chemicals in the air. Oxi Fresh’s cleaning process saves lots of water and electricity as well. Also the fact that we don’t have truck mounted units, we are not polluting the air by having to run our vehicles or generators while we clean. Going Green is a direction that all companies should be striving for. It makes me proud that we are already there.
The Oxi Fresh franchisee from Spokane, WA, Dusty says:
Oxi Fresh in Spokane, WA is being received very well by being a “Green ” company. We run vehicles that are good on gas, and we figure that we are saving over 1500 gallons of water every week over the competition. Oxi Fresh in Spokane lets their customers know that we use solutions, not harsh chemicals. Where do the other cleaners put all that dirty water they pull out of the carpets? It goes down the drain somewhere. Oxi Fresh in Spokane, WA does not have to deal with that scenario, and we are proud that we are able to save gas by not running our vehicles the whole time we are at the home, or having to run a gas powered machine while we are cleaning… We are proud to be a green company for our sake as well as the job we are doing for the client, and saving water and resources for our generations to follow.
Joey from Long Island, NY says:
All natural cleaning agents… my customers love it. Children and pets can lay on carpet and not worry about skin irritation or allergies. No hoses through your windows or doors. My repeat and reco business is growing every hour.
Peter, Oxi Fresh franchisee for Wesley Chapel, FL, says:
Most of my customers are households that have kids and/or pets. One of the reasons a first time customer will call is because of our green cleaning process. They usually state that in using previous cleaners the carpets will stay wet for a very long time or the carpet dries hard from chemical residues. The likely hood of mold/mildew developing are eliminated due to the low volume of water we use. Plus, there is no residue and kids are usually rolling around on the dry carpet as I’m on my way out of the door. If I ever have leftover cleaning product I just use it towards my next job. The equipment is compact and fits in the trunk of my car! My business is growing based on our process alone!
James Cox, the Oxi Fresh franchisee for North Texas says:
Oxi Fresh of North Texas has in a short time established itself as a leader in green technology in the carpet cleaning industry. Our customers are excited about the clean, safe and efficient methods we use to help them care for their investment. North Texans and particularly those in and around The Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex have expressed time and again how suprised they are at our non-intrusive cleaning methods. The green technology works and customers have repeatedly commented on how impressed they are with the results. They just love hearing us say “water your lawn, not your carpet”. Dallas/ Fort Worth customers are looking for efficient, non-toxic, biodegradable, low moisture, air and earth friendly solutions to their floor care. Oxi Fresh of North Texas has it all! Go Green!
Victoria Rader owner of SEM Greenway LLC d/b/a Oxi Fresh of Northern VA says:
We at Oxi Fresh of Northern Virginia are “green” in the business having purchased a franchise last month after my dad Victor has worked as a tech for over a year. There is no better company to be “green” with as it is GREEN! It brings great peace of mind to know that the carpets are absolutely safe for both kids and pets. The new clients are amazed and are spreading the word to their friends of this new fascinatingly efficient and pure method. Just think of the potential of green hotels, green restaurants…
Oxi Fresh of Omaha/Lincoln Nebraska franchisee Jeff says:
I have found that many of my customers here in Omaha and Lincoln Nebraska are very concerned with doing what they can for the environment. Our GREEN carpet cleaning process gives them that option in caring for their carpet. They are usually surprised that the results are even better than they have gotten with other carpet cleaners- with less inconvenience to them since it dries so quickly! Go GREEN! Oxi Fresh is the only choice for GREEN carpet cleaning!

Beware of the Franchise FranBogies!
What’s a FranBogie? FranBogies are bogus franchise statistics that a certain element of my beloved franchise
industry has been feeding, nurturing and breeding for more than 20 years.
They are, in short, shared lies that some irreputable franchisors, franchise sales brokers, con-sultants and lazy and/or apathetic franchise writers perpetuate in order to convince prospective franchisees that buying a franchise – any franchise – is practically a risk-free investment.
According to these bogus statistics, usually attributed to the SBA or US Department of Commerce, starting an independent business leads to financial ruination while buying a franchise is a one-way ticket to health, wealth and happiness.
According to today’s post on Unhappy Franchisee (CHAMPION CLEAN Using Bogus Franchise Statistics), FranBogies are alive and well on franchise sales websites.
The article displays a real live FranBogey in its natural environment, and expounds upon the damage these pesky little buggers wreak upon unsuspecting franchise newbies and the economy. You know it’s a fine piece of reporting by the highly credible sources it draws from (like Sean Kelly’s epic Lies, Damn Lies & Franchise Statistics).

Top New Franchises: What are the qualifications of your tutors?
Jan: Our expert tutors are certified to teach all subject areas – including mathematics, language arts, foreign languages, social studies, science, and history – for grades PK-12. Parents feel confident, as their child is working with a professional, licensed educator. In fact, many of our tutors have received Teacher of the Year and Presidential Awards; hold master’s degrees; and possess highly specialized training in education and child development.
Top New Franchises: Tell us a little bit about the kind of person who would make a good Creative Tutors franchise owner?
Jan: While our franchise owners will not be tutoring (at least extensively) themselves, they should be experienced, professional educators capable of recruiting, evaluating and managing their team of quality educators. They should have great personal and presentation skills so that they can promote and build relationships with parents and the educational community.
Top New Franchises: What qualities are important to you in selecting new franchisees for your system? What makes a good franchisee?
Jan: We really want franchisees who are passionate about education and helping students and families succeed. Our franchise is perfect for educators who want to renew the passion for teaching that led them to this career choice in the first place, but who are eager to get the rewards they richly deserve.
Top New Franchises: Creative Tutors is a home-based business. What advantages does being home-based afford to your franchise owners?
Jan: Being home-based is a significant advantage over franchises such as Huntington or Sylvan Learning that must incur significant upfront costs, high ongoing overhead and long-term leases. We have none of that.
Top New Franchises: How do Creative Tutors franchise owners attract new customers? How do they create repeat business?
Jan: Our marketing programs are really both community based and educationally based. Our franchisees must be an active part of the local community and get involved with local PTAs, parent and community groups, as well as promoting to and supporting the local school systems. We have programs to generate strong referral and word-of-mouth business.
Top New Franchises: Of the training and support services you provide franchisees, which do you think are most valuable to their long-term success?
Jan: Creative Tutors franchisees enjoy extensive training and support systems, as well as an Internet-based reporting and accounting system that enables them to concentrate on marketing their services and building their business
Top New Franchises: What do you see as being the greatest non-financial rewards of being part of the Creative Tutors franchise family?
Jan: Our franchise is really geared to provide lifelong learning support to families. Just as families have a family doctor for their health needs and an accountant for their financial needs, we seek to be the resource that helps families reach their educational and learning goals. Helping a student get through a rough year, build their confidence or get into and thrive at the college of their choice… that’s the kind of personal reward that money can’t buy.
Top New Franchises: Thanks, Jan
Jan: Thank you.

LEASE ONE: Failed Brokers Say It’s a Scam
July 28, 2009 by Sean Kelly · Comments Off
Joe Angelo of Lynnfield, MA-based Lease One Corporation claims that for a one-time fee of $19,900, you can begin servicing a $270 billion industry as a leasing broker and part of the “Lease One Family.”
On the Lease One business opportunity website, Joe claims that, as one of the 200+ Lease One brokers, “you’ll be in business for yourself, but never, ever by yourself.”
As 8 out of every 10 businesses lease equipment, our Associates are right there providing those customers with top notch service and the money they need to make their businesses flourish. With a low investment cost it isn’t hard to see why Lease One Associates are maximizing their investment and enjoying a life-style they have always wished for.
However, allegations that the Lease One broker opportunity is nothing more than a scam and a Ponzi scheme are so prevalent on complaint sites like Rip-Off Report, Complaints Board that the Unhappy Franchisee site posted the question: LEASE ONE CORPORATION: Is It a Scam?
Larry David wrote:
SCAM, SCAM, SCAM. Thank God people are speaking out , thank God I found this website. I signed up and paid my $19,900 two years ago… I was downsized and looking for an opportunity to control my own destiny. The $19,900 was cheap compared to other businesses and I had financial experience. I spoke to LeaseOne first and they convinced me to join. What a SCAM. The train was very basic and the service is completely horrible. The support team is slow and unresponsive… It became clear that these guys are in the business of signing folks up for $19,900 and hoping they do like me and drop out of the program. The scam starts at the low price compared to other business opportunities and finishes when you get so frustrated that you walk away. These guys are great con artists.
King Carpenter, MA wrote:
John R wrote:
Lease One is a complete SCAM!! I paid $20,000 attended the training and was never able to get a deal close through them. I was close on one occasion ongetting a $75,000 deal done but they tacked on a $3,5000 processing fee in the 11th hour and the deal fell appart. The backroom support they claim to have is totally inept. I submitted many good deals that seemed to fall into a black hole while my customers waited anxiously on feedback as to whether or not their funding was approved…
